HONEY GARLIC PORK CHOPS

Ingredients:

4 pork chops (bone-in or boneless)

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 teaspoon garlic powder

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 tablespoon unsalted butter

6 garlic cloves, minced

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup water or chicken broth

2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar (substitute: apple cider vinegar or any white vinegar)

Instructions:

Pan-seared Pork Chops:

a. Turn on your oven broiler or preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

b. Season the pork chops with salt, pepper, and garlic powder just prior to cooking.

c. In a skillet or pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. When hot, sear the pork chops until they're golden and cooked thoroughly, roughly 4-5 minutes per side. Once done, transfer them to a plate and set aside.

d. On medium heat, melt butter in the same skillet. Scrape any browned bits from its bottom. Add garlic and sauté until aromatic, which should take around 30 seconds.

e. Pour in the honey, water, and vinegar. Turn the heat up to medium-high and let the sauce simmer until it thickens a bit, which will take about 3-4 minutes. Remember to stir occasionally.

f. Return the pork chops to the skillet, and generously baste them with the sauce. Broil or grill them for an additional 1-2 minutes, or until the edges get a slight char.

g. For serving, garnish with parsley. These pork chops go great with vegetables, rice, pasta, or even a fresh salad.

Baked Pork Chops Alternative:

a. Set your oven to 390°F (200°C).

b. In a hot, oven-proof skillet or pan over medium-high heat, sear the seasoned pork chops for 2 minutes on each side until they're crispy.

c. Remove the pork chops, and then proceed with making your sauce as outlined in the instructions above (Step 1d to Step 1e).

d. Once the sauce is ready, baste the pork chops with it and bake them in the oven for roughly 10-15 minutes, depending on how well-done you want them.

e. For caramelized edges, broil or grill them for an additional 2 minutes.
